You won’t be surprised to learn that “apartment noise” ranks as one of the top 5 most common complaints from apartment dwellers, according to Rental Protection Agency, a national tenants organization. Luckily, UMH is here to help.

Ever tried to study through a neighbor’s house party? Or sleep when the guy next door works the night shift? Most multi-family buildings have rules that try to mitigate noise issues, but in some cases, it’s just not possible.

Thin Is Not In.

Thin walls and floors, shoddy construction and close quarters all contribute to an elevated level of noise, which can lead to insomnia, stress and a higher risk of health problems.

You’ve tried ear plugs and complaining to management. But if you’re on a tight budget, the only real option has been to move to another apartment building and hope for the best. Until now, that is. At UMH Properties, there is an affordable solution.

Get More. Don’t Pay More.

You can rent or own a brand-new 2 or 3 bedroom single-family home with a yard for what you’ve been paying in rent. UMH Homes are all located in beautiful communities, conveniently located throughout the Northeast and Midwest. Without the land expenses that go with it.

How does UMH do it? Traditionally, homeowners buy the land their home occupies. But UMH is a leader in the development of land-lease communities, which allow residents to own their home but “lease” the land it sits on. That means that UMH pays the land expenses, reducing homeowner costs.

So you’ll get more without paying more…whether you rent or buy.

Many of us take pleasure in telling our own versions of common myths and legends. Sometimes they’re based on centuries-old lore: Witnesses did see something. But it probably wasn’t Big Foot or the Loch Ness Monster.

At other times these misconceptions can be traced to simple observations. For example, the goldfish that keeps swimming around and around in circles must not have more than a 3-second memory. The truth is, goldfish can be trained to respond to color, light and even music.

What all of these tall tales have in common is that they tend to be passed down through families and friends, changing slightly from generation to generation, like a game of telephone.

Even manufactured homes have been subject to half-truths that no longer stand the test of time.

MYTH 1

Manufactured homes aren’t as sturdy as site-built homes, making them more susceptible to high winds and tornadoes.

TRUTH

Modern manufactured homes are actually stronger than site-built homes. How can that be? Manufactured housing is held to a high standard of quality that equals that of site-built homes, according to Home First Certified.

Established in 1976, The Federal Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards, also known as HUD Code, regulates manufactured housing. HUD revised its codes in 1994 and 1999, adding even more regulations that make manufactured housing and its foundations safer.
Manufactured homes are erected on a permanent foundation in compliance with the Permanent Foundation Guide for Manufactured Housing, HUD says.

MYTH 2

Rising prices have put new homes out of reach for most Americans and there are just no affordable options.

TRUTH

Most manufactured homes can save you 1/3 to 1/2 off comparable site-built construction.
You can do more when you spend less. Save money, travel, go back to school. Enjoy a higher quality of life by spending less on monthly mortgage and maintenance payments.

MYTH 3

Manufactured homes offer all the choice of the Model T Ford: Black, black or black.

TRUTH

Nothing could be further from the truth. UMH features dozens of models, sizes and finishes to fit your needs. From gleaming stainless steel appliances and spa-like bathrooms to modern clubhouses and backyards.
